Off-Road Package Improves 2018 Expedition's Performance

Truck customers are always looking for ways to improve their performance, and the Ford Expedition is the "truck" of choice for performance-obsessed family-SUV drivers.

It is essentially an F-150 with a body style made to accommodate eight passengers instead of cargo. Except it also accommodates up to 130.8 cubic feet of cargo. So where's the catch?

We may post more about the incredible upgraded towing specs on the upcoming 2018 Expedition, which goes on sale this fall, but for now let's talk about the other thing trucks are known for: off-roading.

To give the 2018 Expedition a boost in off-road capability, customers will be able to order the FX4 Off-Road Package. You may not want to plan a trip to the Rubicon Trail, but this package is more than a few cosmetic changes. The underbody is armored with seven skid plates, protecting the fuel tank, transmission, and other critical parts from being clogged or damaged, a Terrain Management System gives you the best traction on a mud, grass, gravel, sand, and snow, and new shocks help the SUV handle even the roughest conditions.
